CSHRD Delegation In Exchange Visit to KRCT Headquarters in Pristina, Kosovo (May 26 – 30, 2026)
Pristina, Kosovo – The Coalition of Somali Human Rights Defenders (CSHRD) is honoured to share highlights from an inspiring exchange visit to the headquarters of the – Kosova Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims (KRCT) – in Pristina.
Our delegation, comprising human rights defender and lawyer Ilyas, social worker Asha, and psychologist Liban, had the privilege of meeting the outstanding KRCT team and learning about their holistic approach to supporting torture survivors, promoting human rights, and advancing justice.

The visit included a comprehensive tour of KRCT’s various departments, where our delegation gained valuable insights into the organization’s multidisciplinary model of rehabilitation. We learned how lawyers, psychologists, social workers, medical professionals, and advocacy specialists work together to provide survivor-centered care and strengthen accountability for torture and other serious human rights violations.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Feride Rushiti and the entire KRCT family for their exceptionally warm welcome, openness, and willingness to share their decades of experience. Feride’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to survivors continue to inspire human rights defenders across the world. The professionalism, compassion, and dedication demonstrated by every member of the KRCT team reflect the highest standards of excellence in rehabilitation and human rights work.
For CSHRD, this exchange was more than a study visit—it was an opportunity to build lasting partnerships, exchange best practices, and strengthen our capacity to provide comprehensive support to torture survivors and human rights defenders in Somalia.
As a member of the International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims (IRCT) network, KRCT has established itself as a leading rehabilitation centre whose work serves as a model for organizations around the world. We leave Pristina inspired by the remarkable achievements of the KRCT team and with renewed determination to apply the lessons learned to our work in Somalia.
CSHRD looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with KRCT and other international partners in promoting rehabilitation, justice, accountability, and the dignity of torture survivors everywhere.
