The human rights work of the Coalition of Somali HRDs is guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 5, 8, 10, 16, and 17, and the principles of International Humanitarian Law. Any organization seeking membership in this transnational network of civil society, dedicated to strengthening human rights, democratic governance, peace, development, and improved public service delivery in Somalia, must meet the following criteria:
1. Be active in the areas of democracy, good governance, human rights, social development, or a closely related field.
2. Endorse the values and general principles of the Coalition, as reflected in its strategic plan.
3. Represent an institution, agency, or NGO active in the Coalition’s priority areas.
4. Actively support the attainment of the civil society code of ethics and the Agenda for Global Action on good governance and democracy, working in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in line with International Human Rights & Humanitarian Laws.
