Somalia: Press Release About the Suicide Explosions in Mogadishu

The Coalition of Somali human rights defenders CSHRDs condemns yesterday’s targeted twin suicide explosions with the strongest terms, the reckelss suicide explosion claimed the lives of innocent people of more than 250 and the number of casualties still continue to increase as many bodies are being recovered from the wreckage and some others remain unaccounter for.
More than 300 people were injured in the twin explosions that targeted the Ministry of Education and the busy interjuction of Zoobe.   
Victims of the twin explosions include journalists who were reporting from the scene of the first explosion, passers by, pedestrians, and business people. Only in October, CSHRDs recorded three major suicide explosios in Mogadishu.
On 14-10-2022 Hawa Abdi land mine hit civilian passanger min bus and it nine of the passengers.
On 17-10-2022, Another explosion took place in the district of wadajir and that explosion claimed the lives of eight Bajaj dravers.
On 29-10-2022 twin explosions hit Zoobe interjuction killing hundreds of people and injuring hundreds of people. In October 14, 2017, a major explosion took place in the same Zoobe interjuction and it claimed the lives of one thousand people.
This underliines the importance of security improvement and the establishment national identification number for every citizen in order to improve national security and protect civilians.
