Attack on Minority Family in Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia.
The Coalition of Somali Human Rights Defenders CSHRDs condemns the reckless attack by armed men against minority family while sleeping mid night in their house in Bosaso, Puntland, Somalia on 3rd of June 2023.
Recorded video from the scene purportedly shows a group of men breaking into the house of minority family in Bosaso where one of the men steps on the face of a young boy sleeping on the ground on a mattress and other men threatening the family’s father and mother by loudly saying; ‘’we can kill you and we will kill you, because your daughter who is a Tiktoker has insulted us and our clan, and ask them by saying; ‘’Do you know where you are ? Do you know whose land is Bosaso? and then answers by himself by saying; it is our land, so we can kill you, and we will come back to kill you tomorrow night if you don’t hand your daughter over to us.
This barbaric act doesn’t belong to our society and is against all the values we believe in and the perpetrators should be brought to justice and held accountable for breaking in, attacking and traumatizing innocent minority family in their our own home without any legal justification.
Puntland and the federal authorities of Somalia are obliged to act decisively on such blatant violations against minorities in Somalia.
