CSHRDS Unleashes its Campaign to Uphold the Latest UPR Recommendations for Somalia.

Mogadishu, (10 July 2021) – Senior members of the coalition of somali human rights defenders CSHRDS, namely; Asad Dhayow, aka (Asad Dalmar), and Mohamed Abdullahi aka (Shiino) met today in hotel Decale in Mogadishu, with senior member and the former head of the federal government of Somalia parliamentary committee of human rights; Anab Hassan Elmi in Decale hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia. The FGS parliamentary committee of human rights is the strategic partner of CSHRDS in its effort to uphold and work on the latest UPR recommendations for Somalia which recommended Somalia to ratify the Rome statue (entry to the ICC) and form an independent human rights commission at national level.

To realize the latest UPR recommendations for Somalia and to better engage in human rights advocacy at national level, CSHRDS senior HRDs met today with MP Anab, who welcomed the meeting and hailed the human rights advocacy work undertaken by the CSHRDS and stressed the importance of joint collaboration and close cooperation on the most pressing human rights issues in our nation. Anab invited the CSHRDS senior HRDs to another meeting at ministerial level to further discuss and strengthen collaboration in order to accomplish and achieve our joint human rights goals and work together towards realizing the latest UPR recommendations. The meeting has been closely and remotely followed up by the chairperson of the CSHRDS in order to ensure its success.
